Redhood

Eugenia (7 years old) and Tim (2.5 years old)

I bought a red cap in a thrift store, but made the second one for another child the same way. The pattern is quite simple: cut a circle without the bottom part and put a ribbon horizontally somewhere 1/3 from the top. However, it doesn't stay well on head this way, so later I added another ribbon around the face, making the hood smaller.

Ridinghood

The rest is as usual: a sleeveless dress or a skirt, a nice white shirt, a white apron, and a basket of course.

Red Riding Hood 2007

Our Little Red Riding Hood cape/hood piece is made from a large man's size Gap hooded sweatshirt! I found a clean, very large red fleece Gap sweatshirt in the thriftshop. I cut away the sleeves and front, leaving the shoulders, back, and hood. I used part of one sleeve to make the ties at the collar. Absolutely no sewing, just cutting, because fleece is nice like that.

The rest of the costume was just clothes in the closet--a red corduroy jumper, white blouse, white tights, black maryjane shoes, and a basket.
